In the Spirit of Kindness for Michael Papp

Donation protected
Michael Papp is my best friend!  He is a 43 year old, single father of an 11 year old boy.  Michael who was suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumor on April 25th, 2019 after experiencing symptoms of a persistent migraine and some left sided function loss, which left him unable to work as a self-employed contractor.

Prior to April 2019, Michael was a healthy and strong man, rarely ill in the time I’ve known him.  So you can imagine the shock when we heard “tumor” as the physician wept while he displayed the results on the CT scan.  To be honest I was terrified… but as a man of faith Michael leaned heavily on God in prayer.  I believe it’s those prayers, the prayers of others and his faith that have carried us to this very day.

The timing of tests and results within minutes; the treatment, referrals and transfers by doctors, nurses, paramedics; the neurosurgical team’s ability to operate not once, not twice but THREE times (over the course of three months) is nothing short of a miracle.  And we are forever grateful!  Grateful not only for the professionalism but the compassion and caring we have seen along the way.  We experienced a spirit of Kindness that transcended any religious and/or cultural barriers, which left a profound impact.

In that same spirit, Michael reached out to many (patients/family members) during his hospital stay; trying to encourage and strengthen them through their own individual battles.  In turn, we made meaningful connections and some new friends who carried us when we grew weary.  “David, Anne, Mike, Vangie, Eddie and his wife (daughter Lynn), Richard, Veralynn and Matt, Cody, Sue, Scott, Ali, and the patient (new friend/brother) who stayed in a bed beside Michael in the room”.

You’ve all made such a difference!

But his battle is not over and treatment continues and bills/expenses don’t stop (e.g. ambulance and transfer costs, medication etc…).  This is an ugly dehumanizing condition…. stripping my best friend of function and at times hope.  Currently, Michael’s mobility requires a wheelchair (possibly motorized), many appliances, aids (e.g. portable household ramp) and life adjustments to cope.  Yet our focus remains on God and the belief in His ability to restore full function!

As humbling as it is for Michael, I’m asking for your financial support in restoring some of his hope.  If you’re able would you be so kind to donate and/or share this link so Michael can focus on what matters-his life and time with his son.

Thank you for your support and prayers while Michael fights the fight of his life.
