'In The Roots' is a student short film written and directed by Ashlyn Mote which follows lead character, Wenry, in her struggle to nail down her identity in her isolated environment until the opportunity to escape comes in the form of the local news paper girl.
Why This Story:
'In The Roots' aims to showcase and bring understanding to the challenges teenagers face in the midst of stepping into the next chapter of their lives. What makes them who they are now? Who do they want to be? How will the world perceive them? What will be lost when change is made?
In her secluded rural home, Wenry will ask herself these questions in her own pursuit of discovering who she is outside of how she grew up.
The goal of this film is to relate to young people who may also be struggling to find their identity and to inspire those in need of change.
