A Plea for Support: Andy Reeves’ Fight Against Lyme Disease
Our family is seeking support for Andy in his battle with Lyme disease—a condition that has deeply impacted his life. While the ultimate goal is total recovery, we know that Lyme disease, though treatable, is not curable. We hold onto hope for remission or even a measure of relief.
As with many illnesses, new treatments are emerging, and we remain determined to explore all possible options. We kindly ask for your help—if everyone on our friend list could contribute and share this message on their social feeds or with any businesses or groups they are connected to, it would mean the world to us. Please, share and share again!
We understand this is a significant ask, especially in these challenging times, but we truly believe every effort, every donation, every share, makes a difference. Over the years, we’ve pursued both conventional and unconventional treatments, and while we’ve faced setbacks, we refuse to give up. This journey has taught us the value of hope and perseverance.
For those who know Andy, you know his faith is unshakable. Despite his own struggles, he has always extended kindness, love, and prayer to others in need. Now, it’s his turn to receive that support.
We would like to meet our goal by May 2025. We are exploring many treatment options, but we currently have two that we are focused on:
Calgary: This treatment, known as S.O.T., is a new option with a promising success rate, though it is not yet proven. The estimated cost is $30,000 CAD, covering most expenses.
United States: A comprehensive 12-week program (6 hours/day, 5 days/week). The cost is approximately $100,000 USD plus additional expenses for travel, accommodations, medicine, and recovery support, bringing the total to about $250,000 CAD
Our dream is for Andy to regain his strength and return to a life filled with family, community, and service, even part-time work.
Andy’s Journey Living with Lyme disease is like waking up to what feels like the worst day of your life—only to realize that each subsequent day brings new challenges.
Before this journey began over eight years ago, Andy was vibrant and active. He thrived in his job, volunteered at church and community organizations, and enjoyed golfing, hiking, fishing, motorcycling, and so much more. But one day, after returning from a business trip, he developed a full-body rash and flu-like symptoms—symptoms that would mark the beginning of a long and difficult road.
Despite countless tests and visits to specialists, the diagnosis was elusive. Fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, epilepsy, Parkinson's, and other conditions were ruled out. Lyme disease finally emerged as a possibility, though it remains unrecognized in its chronic form in Canada.
Over the years, Andy has battled joint deterioration, balance issues, neuropathy, severe headaches, memory loss, tremors, and significant weight loss—dropping from 250 lbs to just 170 lbs. Despite the immense pain and frustration, he remains steadfast in his faith and hopeful for relief.
We’re reaching out because we know treatment outside of Canada has helped many others achieve remission. Andy longs to regain his health and once again contribute to society and enjoy life with family and friends.
How You Can Help Your contribution, no matter how small, can bring us closer to this goal. Whether through donations, sharing this message, or connecting us with others who can help, you are making an impact. Thank you for standing with us on this journey.
With heartfelt gratitude, Sue and the Reeves Family
