In the Loving Memory of Fandi Homan

"In mid February, my dad had a massive heart attack and went under cardiac arrest while I was driving home to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. He was given a less than 10% chance to live the first night he was admitted to the ICU. Following that day, my dad was in the ICU for 3 weeks. He was unconscious for about a week and his heart had stopped a total of 3 times, but the doctors were able to get him back each time. They discovered he had a rare heart disease that affected the tissue outside of his heart. He also had major blockages in the major arteries of his heart that they were planning to remove with open heart surgery. However, he contracted pneumonia and his organs started to fail. There wasn't much to do other than hope and pray that he would recover from the pneumonia as well as the broken ribs from the initial CPR. However, he had become too sick for additional treatments as he was already on a ventilator and a balloon pump, and was maxed out on all his medications. My dad passed away on March 7th in the evening when his heart stopped for the last time.

My dad was an ambitious, cheerful, and hard working person. He spent his whole career in the food industry, managing and owning restaurants since I was in the first grade. I grew up watching my dad work long hours, from open to close, in all of our restaurants and he never complained. He worked to make sure that me and my brother got to pursue our ambitions and that my family didn't have to worry about anything in life." - Graciella Homan (Fandi Homan's daughter)

Fandi Homan was a devoted father and husband, a hardworking and kind businessman, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He raised two incredibly talented, resilient, hardworking, compassionate, and intelligent children: Graciella (20) is a college sophomore pursuing a degree in architectural engineering, and Steven (17) is a high school senior hoping to pursue a business degree once he enters college. Fandi is remembered by Graciella, Steven, and his loving wife Johanna. With his passing, Johanna, Graciella, and Steven have all been working tirelessly, in addition to Graciella's and Steven ongoing studies, to continue running Fandi's two restaurants and serve their loyal customers. At the time of his passing, Fandi was also in the process of opening a third restaurant, a project which has since been paused to lessen the family's current burdens.

The Homan family was devastated by the loss of Fandi, both emotionally and financially – especially due to the time Fandi spent in intensive care prior to his passing. If you are physically able and willing to donate to the Homan family, please do so.  Any amounts would help, and they would be immensely grateful for your well wishes and graciousness.
