As some of you know, we have lost our brother Michael James Studley... to the unforgiving, and unforgivable, monster that is Huntington's Disease; Friday, November 15th 2019.
This same disease that stole his father, and our dear friend, Mike Senior.
For over six years Mikey was feeling and quietly battling symptoms, with only his closest friends, family, and his wife, his bestfriend of 20yrs.
Mike was diagnosed at the young age of 29, and this disease, different case by every single case, is a fatally rare, and genetic, family disease; he was experiencing the symptoms: neurological degeneration of the mind and body, cognitive and emotional changes, seemingly rapidly, yet also subtly...
This isn't something he was open about, the Mike we all know and love wasn't going to let this change anything in his life. He fought it to the teeth, and he lived every moment just as he did, as the very day before any symptom came to his door. Thriving daily, as any other day, with his irreplaceably close family of four, cooking up a delicious dinner, watching the Hawks, finding any given family member (chosen or blood) popping in, at any given moment. That is how he lived, that is how he fought this.
So much is unknown, unfounded, and even unrecognized about this evil neurological plague, and there are no cures, but please see the attached link from The Huntington's Disease Society of America, and join us in learning all that we can; because it has taken our people, and continues to everywhere, thriving on its inadvertent anonymity- until we speak up and out, and spread our story.
Going forward, amongst finding our strength and healing through this gripping heartache, we can learn, speak of it, have the discussions of its existence, and we can validate those suffering from it.
Though still with us, watching over his amazingly strong, smart, and otherworldly children, Gavin and Jaide, there are, inevitably still, needs to be met... To lay him to rest, to do what we can in helping ease the financial burden his wife and mother now face. With this, helping also to ensure the bright future of these precious babies we all cherish so very much, we have created this page, an outlet, for everyone who wants to help and just doesn't quite know how- to be a part of the process- to be there for them in a tangible way.
This is what we can do, while we let his tribe grieve in private, to not impose physically. This will help more than you know.
Thank you, we know how much he meant to you all, to us all; he truly has so many friends, so many people he loved.
Mike's Celebration of life is in planning, but please, celebrate him now- hug the person near you, tease them lovingly, light that fire-pit out back, crack that Coors, and blast that George Straight-Skynard mix.
