Hello! We are a group of film students at the University of Colorado Denver and we are raising money for our senior thesis film, In the Gutter.
Logline
After an irresponsible friend gets his bicycle stolen, a punked out bike courier is forced to reevaluate his friendships as he tries to navigate the back alleys of Denver, in hopes of replacing it before work on Monday.
Mission Statement
Set in pre-weed boom Denver, In the Gutter aims to take the audience back to a time when the city was run down and the people were desperate. The focus is to capture the feeling of old Denver, when young people could thrive below the poverty line, and no one drove cars. As the city continues to grow, the lack of counter/subcultures have fallen to wayside, leaving locals romanticizing about those authentically trashy Denver days.
Director’s Bio:
Hi! My name is Chynna Whittaker and I am a student filmmaker at CU Denver. I will be directing “In The Gutter” alongside writer/DP Ian Walker. “In The Gutter” will be the third film I’ve directed in my college career. I have directed two other award winning films and I am so excited to start this project! Any donations are appreciated!
Writer’s Bio:
My name is Ian Walker. Having grown up in Denver, I've been flopping around all corners of the city for about 20 yrs. My background consists of shooting numerous full length skate videos, music videos, and a few short films. I’ve also edited a hand full of short films that have won awards at festivals around the country; such as indie fest chicago, LA, SF, and recently I produced the best junior film at CU Denver. Since I was once heavily involved in the Denver punk/bike scene, pre 2014 weed boom, I felt I should write a story that pays tribute to those mid 2000’s days of crusty Denver.
