Hi Everyone,
My name is Lindsey and I'm raising funds for my sister, Indra. Indra is a loving wife, a supportive daughter, dear sister, and awesome friend.
On her behalf, I'm here to represent her in her battle versus a RARE medical condition called Hidradenitis suppurativa or HS.
What is Hidradenitis suppurativa?
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, systemic (throughout the body) inflammatory condition where an overactive immune system contributes to inflammation below the surface of the skin. While the exact cause of HS is unknown, the immune system is believed to play a role.
With HS, your body produces too many inflammatory proteins, including TNF-alpha. This imbalance leads to increased inflammation throughout the body. This increased inflammation affects the deep layers of your skin, causing pressure and extreme amounts of pain. HS can worsen over time, and it can affect your quality of life. This chronic condition affects up to 2 percent of the population.
There are several stages to HS known as Hurley stages.
Stage 1: Little to mild cases and symptoms
Stage 2: Moderate to severe cases and symptoms
Stage 3: Most severe cases and symptoms
Currently, Indra is in stage 3 which is the MOST SEVERE stage.
You would never know by looking at her, but Indra has had several surgeries in the past and other procedures to deal with this debilitating condition. Nevertheless, Indra continues to put her best foot forward daily while putting on a brave face despite the agonizing pain that she endures.
For those that know her best, she’s known for her infectious laugh and positive, encouraging attitude. However, due to the daily chronic, severe pain and diminished quality of life, that positivity is slowly fading out.
How Can I Help Indra Win Her Battle Against HS?
I completely understand that we're all living in trying times and we can all use a little help. Nevertheless, my sister and I strongly believe under our solid faith that it's a blessing to be a blessing.
I humbly and sincerely ask for you to help however you can. No donation is too small or too big to help someone greatly in need, especially my sister. Any monetary donation are GREATLY appreciated.
What Will The Donations Go Toward?
Health and medical bills can be pricey. Your donation will go towards Indra undergoing additional treatment(s) such as extended hospital stays, medication therapy, home health aid/home nursing, and surgeries for which is unfortunately not covered by insurance because her condition of HS is so rare.
Additionally, as she takes time off from work to recover and heal, donations will also go towards any other medical bills or equipment she will need.
Your help will tremendously ease the financial burden of Indra and give her a peace of mind knowing that she can recovery quickly without the stress or worry of astronomical medical bills.
