Paying Tribute to Matt Thurston and His Family

We are heartbroken with the news that Matt Thurston suddenly passed away last night, November 30th. Please pray for peace and comfort for Jeff, Kristin, Lauren, Kailyn and the whole family. 


In 2004, the Thurston’s moved into a house across the street from ours. They came at a time when our family desperately needed some positive light in our lives — and they gave us exactly that. They graciously opened their hearts and their doors to our family and Vintage St. suddenly became so much brighter because of them. 


For us Loza kids, some of our favorite memories growing up are from the countless afternoons we spent running around and playing outside with Matt and his sisters, Lauren and Kailyn. We will forever remember Matt as the crazy adventurous, brave and silly boy that he was. If we weren’t playing outside in our neighborhood, we were running around playing at church together, as Kristin and Jeff always drove us to church with them when our family had no other way of getting there. It is their small but many acts of service such as this that make this family the kind and compassionate people that they are.


Our family is just one example of how this family has positively impacted the lives of those around them, as they have a talent for bringing light into the lives of everyone they meet, and for that we would like to show our gratitude. 


Because words can only express so much, we would like to also send our love and support through this GoFundMe for the family. Hoping that even $10 donated by everyone can help to lift some of the burden so that the family can focus on just being together at this time.


All donations will be used to pay any medical costs and funeral expenses that the family will have to take on. Most of Matt’s friends are in California where he grew up, but because he passed away in Tennessee, there will be extra memorial expenses incurred.
