It has been a rough two years for my family. Two years ago my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My dad, John, was her rock getting through treatments--now he needs us to be his rock.
Last night, Father's Day, my dad went into cardiac arrest. My mom was in bed next to him when she heard him making abnormal sounds. She shook him and found him to be unresponsive. After calling 911, the operator walked her through the steps of CPR, which she administered until a police officer arrived and took over. The police officer administered CPR until the paramedics arrived and used an AED on him. He was taken to Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, WI, where we were told he suffered a heart attack. He was later transported to St. Luke's in Milwaukee, WI. The Cardiologist provided an update this morning that it wasn't a heart attack. Further tests will be done to determine the cause.
As of late afternoon, John's vitals were good and he was stable. He will remain in an induced coma and hypothermic state until 5am, when they will slowly warm him back to a normal temperature--neurological damage is unknown right now.
John is self employed and his work is physically demanding. The deducible on my parents' health insurance is significant. Prognosis and recovery are unknown right now, and because he isn't working, he will not be earning an income. My father not only provides for himself and my mom, but supports my sister, her son, and my grandmother; all of whom live in the same house.
All funds will go towards medical bills and assisting with living expenses

We received news that John’s temperature is now normal. He did have focal seizures which they said are common and will remain sedated today. My mom is going up there because the cardiologist wants to talk to her. Unfortunately due to COVID, he is unable to have my mom constantly by his side.
