UPDATE 11/2: Steve passed away in Siri's loving arms on 10/31 at 6:45pm. He was surrounded by his beloved family. It is still important that Siri and Travis spend as much time at home together to process their grief in the way that they only know. Any help is still needed at this time. Thank you!
Hello, My name is Kathy, and my very good friend Siri and her family are dealing with a significant loss. Her ex-husband, and father to their son Travis was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2018. Steve moved in with Siri and Travis in August 2019. After a few years of surgery, chemotherapy, and a clinical trial, as it was determined that treatment was no longer effective. They decided as a family to end treatment and enroll in hospice. Siri decided to take a full-time leave from work to care for Steve so that he is surrounded by love from his family every single moment of the day. This has created a financial burden, as Siri is the sole source of income for the family. She exhausted all of her leave in the spring so that they could all do things as a family. Those were his miracle months. They were able to go to the beach, take drives, going to their favorite restaurants. Siri is taking unpaid leave for Steve's remaining time. Please consider helping this kind, wonderful, and caring family get through this extremely heartbreaking time.
