In Solidarity with Sandeep and Sakshi Das

In community and solidarity with our friend, Sandeep Das, and his beloved family.

A few days ago, our dear friend Sandeep Das’s daughter, Sakshi, was the victim of a hit-and-run and sustained multiple injuries. 

In addition to the physical toll, this situation has placed an immense financial and emotional burden on Sakshi, Sandeep, and their loved ones. We are asking for support from the community to help cover the extensive medical expenses, surgeries, rehabilitation, and ongoing care she will require.

On Monday, March 3rd, Sakshi was on her way home from school crossing the street with an indicated walk sign. A driver stopped at the red light, then abruptly accelerated, striking her with his vehicle as she crossed the street. Sakshi was rushed to University of Maryland Medical Center where she received treatment. A full CAT scan was conducted that revealed several broken teeth, a fracture in her mandible and displacement of a joint in her jaw. She was discharged from the hospital and is at home in stable condition recovering.

The Baltimore Police Department is currently investigating the attack.
