In seconds, life can change… The Kinnees

Donation protected
On December 15th, the day before his birthday, Matt Kinnee—one of the most loving, caring and giving fathers, husbands & friends—lost balance, falling 10 feet from a ladder while working on his barn, taking one of the heaviest impacts directly to his head, severely fracturing his C6, C7 & C2 vertebrae.

Matt’s neck tightened up immediately after the fall, with his instincts telling him it was broken, God telling him to be still, before calling out for his wife, who completely by the grace of God returned to their homestead moments prior, to not only witness her husband’s horrific incident but be there in full support, calling 911 at a critical time.

Before the ambulance even arrived, 4 huge things happened that play a major role in what we believe led to Matt being here with us today:
  • A pile of manure helped break his fall
  • His instincts telling him not to move
  • His wife ending up present by his side
  • His dear friend, Pastor Jerod, was close enough to show up in minutes, holding his neck still while praying over him until the ambulance arrived

His team of Doctors and Nurses voiced what a miracle it is that he can walk, let alone is even ALIVE to undergo the surgery needed to repair and fuse his list of fractured vertebrae.

He is now safely out of surgery, but with being the main provider and caretaker of his family and their property, the Kinnees are heading into a very challenging season of healing as Matt will undertake a 9-12 month rehabilitation journey.

The Kinnee family has 4 kids (Madden 13, Maverik 10, Paizlee 6, Paxtynn 3), and a homestead full of animals.

At the time of the accident, the family, unfortunately, did not have insurance, which makes this unexpected tragedy a complete out-of-pocket expense.

All donations will go toward Matt’s neurosurgery, ambulance rides, ER & ICU stays (already reaching in excess of $400,000), in addition to rehabilitation and future surgeries that may be needed.

A note from his wife Zoe:
“I don’t have the words quite yet… but, the Lord has given me PEACE + HOPE through the trauma. We are so overwhelmed with gratitude from all of y’all’s love and support. God is so good, He IS still in the business of MIRACLES and we are so thankful for our miracle. We will never be able to repay you ALL for your generosity, kindness + prayers. But, the Lord did tell me on the morning of Sunday, Dec 18 in a moment of overwhelm in my flesh the Lord put his hand over my face and said ‘you get to pray for them and let ME bless them 7x over!!!’”

"I have to say that it was an absolute honor to be able to be by Zoe’s side as she supported her husband through these 4 days in the hospital. While I realize the recovery journey is not nearly over… I am just in awe to have been able to be there as they moved through this turbulent time with faith as the front runner. To watch them notice fear and choose faith over and over again was such a beautiful experience for me. These two are so intuitive, caring, loving, kind, will stand for what’s right and not back down from a challenge and I am blessed to call them family. Zoe’s heart to curate a deep and meaningful community is so inspiring. I see this begin within the core of her family of 4 kids and has expanded out to all of those she comes into contact with. Her light is so bright and I am so grateful she is my big sister. And Matt is so giving of his time & heart and is the first one to speak up and go the extra mile for a loved one. It’s an honor to call him my brother-in-law. The world is much brighter because these two are in it, what a gift they are to us all."

“We quite literally would not be living in Texas without the Kinnee family. What started out as a Realtor/client relationship quickly transitioned into one of our most valued friendships. Matt, Zoe and their four children have become family. They are the kind of friends that help you paint your office walls on a busy Monday or show up on your doorstep to surprise you with beef from their homestead. We have witnessed Matt and Zoe step up at every opportunity to help those in need. We will use this tragedy as an opportunity to cover them in the same love, support and prayers they unselfishly give to so many others.”

“While most men suffice to carry others for one mile, it is a rare feat to find one who will go two. ‘If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles.’ (Matt. 5:41) Matt Kinnee is a two-mile man and when it is over, he asks, “Would you rather we go three?”

“Matt and Zoe are the people who will show up at your door (break it down if they have to) to help you in a storm…they will give you the shirt off their back…are the kindest most incredible family and we are beyond grateful Matt was given a miracle of still being with us. They have poured into this community and now is our chance to pour back into them.”
