In Remembrance of Tanya Malamud
It is with heavy hearts that we share that Tanya lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, August 21 at the young age of 48. She fought her disease for 1.5 years with bravery, resilience, and fervor, all while maintaining compassion and warmth for the people around her. She was constantly seeking ways to help others and to improve the lives of those she crossed paths with, no matter how briefly. Tanya valued smiles, laughter, friendships, nature, confidence, and courage. She loved learning new hobbies, experiencing new adventures, and traveling to new destinations. She is deeply loved and missed by her family and close friends, and her absence leaves a shattering void in the lives of all those who knew her.
One of Tanya's requests that she had shared with family and friends across the country was for a bench to be established in her memory at the Chicago Botanic Garden, specifically near the prairie. We love the idea of having a location where people can contribute to and visit a designated space to celebrate her life, friendship, and loving spirit. Tanya would have been so touched to know just how much she meant to her community.
May her memory be a blessing.
With love,
Emily Malamud (Tanya's niece)
