In Palestine, Music is More Than Art. It’s a Lifeline.
Thank you all so much for your incredible generosity - we reached our original target, and Sameh has safely arrived in Galway, where he has begun his apprenticeship.
Unfortunately, due to an unexpected issue with German customs in Amman, Sameh was not allowed to board his flight as planned. This meant we had to book an alternative last-minute flight, resulting in an additional cost of €1,000.
We are asking for your support one more time to help cover this extra amount. If you are in a position to donate, even a small amount, it would make a huge difference. Our goal is to raise just €1,000 more to close this gap.
This cause remains deeply personal to me. In a place where hope feels in short supply, music is a vital expression of resilience and identity. Music is a lifeline and a form of resistance.
Sameh As’ad is the only piano tuner in Palestine. For years, he has been tuning and repairing upright pianos across the West Bank, using the limited resources available to him. Now, he has a rare opportunity to receive advanced training on grand pianos — essential for many performances and recordings.
Sameh is currently training with Ciarán Ryan, one of Ireland’s top piano technicians, in an intensive, month-long program. The skills he is gaining in tuning, repairing, voicing, and preparing grand pianos will benefit the entire Palestinian music scene for years to come.
If you haven’t donated yet or are able to give again, please help us raise this final €1,000 to ensure Sameh’s journey is fully supported.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
With gratitude,
Fiona Neary
