In Order to Survive & Continue Our Story

Hello everyone! My name is Kendyl Wilson and I’m from Huntsville, Alabama! I’m starting this GoFundMe to help support my friends in Gaza evacuate and live to tell their story. As far as some of you know, I have very dear friends that are currently living in Gaza at this moment. I’ve known them for a very long time. Since I’ve lived in Rochester, NY many years ago. They’ve became no short than family to me. To know them is to absolutely love them. They are amazing people who deserve to live to tell their story. For those who don’t know, Gaza is currently under attack by Israeli forces. The death toll is steadily rising from the carpet bombing to starvation.

Below is a firsthand story from my friend, Mohammed:

“Hello, I am Mohammed. I am 28 years old and a Computer Engineer. I'm married and have a two-year-old son. I currently live in Gaza, specifically in Rafah, after being displaced more than 4 times. I'm reaching out to everyone in these difficult circumstances of war.

We used to have a beautiful life, each of us had a story and a narrative. However, as soon as the war started, our lives turned upside down. We had a beautiful home where my family and I lived together. The war completely destroyed this house, and we need years and significant effort to rebuild it.

As for myself, Mohammed, I used to work as a programmer, had a great job, and had many clients. I lost my job and my clients because I couldn't work anymore.

My wife Sarah (27) also lost her job as a designer.

My beloved two-year-old son, Waseem, became very fearful and suffers from sleep problems due to what he saw and heard.

As for my father, he sees his children and grandchildren suffering from fear and hunger, unable to do anything to help them. He also suffers from diseases like high blood pressure. It increased due to the lack of medications, the sounds of explosions, and tension.

As for my mother, she worked hard all her life alongside my father to build a better future for us. She also suffers from diseases like high blood pressure and migraines, which worsened with stress, fear, hunger, and the lack of necessary medications.

My brother Abdul Rahman (27), who was engaged and was supposed to get married in the past months, saw his dream of a beautiful and happy marriage shattered because of the war. He lost his home, the joyful atmosphere, and also his job.

My sister Amal (25) also lost her home, and her suffering increased as she tried to provide protection for her young daughters, Iman (6) and Farah (3).

My brother Mahmoud (22), whose dream was always to study abroad and complete his education, couldn't achieve his dream because as soon as he graduated from the Information Technology College, the war began, destroying his dreams. He couldn't work or continue his education.

Also, my siblings Fuad (24), Anas (18), Enas (15), and Ahmed (12), each of them has a story and a life to live and work for.

After more than six months of war, destruction, and fear and finding that there is no place to go after being displaced several times following the serious threats of attack on the last place we fled to in Rafah, we had to search for life and survival. Therefore, I created this link to raise the necessary money to leave Gaza and save our lives from death and destruction.

Unfortunately, the cost of leaving and escaping from this war is beyond our ability and capacity. We need $5000 per person because the only way to leave Gaza is by paying these amounts. So, we turn to you for your support. With your generous support, I hope to evacuate my family from Gaza, to escape from the war and to continue our stories and lives.

With your support, regardless of the amount, you can make a difference and be the lifeline for our family. Together, we can provide a glimmer of hope amid the darkness.

Thank y’all so much for the support and I hope together we will be able to help my second escape this nightmare. They have dreams and a life they deserve to live without fear. They deserve to live to tell their story. Our goal is 70k. They have a big family, 5k will go to help each member to help them each to evacuate! Any remaining funds will be used for their essentials such as food, shelter, water etc. As stated above, all funds will be transferred directly from GoFundMe to an Egyptian travel company called Hala.
