Victim of arson in the middle of the night.

Hello my name is Danita Jones. I am a humble person and have always hated to ask anyone for anything and I have a hard time accepting help, but I have no choice right now and I have to swallow my pride.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on December 1st I was awaken by an odd smell. I hopped up off of the couch where I had fallen asleep to see where it was coming from. I ran upstairs to my daughter's room and beat on her door to see if she was burning a candle. She said no and came out of her room as she had smelled it also. Upon further inspection we started seeing smoke. I opened my side door to see not only my front porch engulfed in flames, but also my back porch.

I told my daughter to call 911, grab our 18 year old cat and ran back to get my car keys. We got into the car and drove across the street to safety and the fire department arrived within a few minutes.

By then the fire had spread rapidly. Our turtle, who is also 18 years old and was still in the house, was saved by the Cleveland Fire Department.

Thankfully, my sister and son were not there at the time.

Someone had intentionally set our house on fire!

Anyone who knows my family knows that we don't start any trouble and go well out of our way to help anyone and everyone.

We are now the ones desperately in need of help.

The past 2 years have been extremely difficult for me after my mom's passing. I had been my parents caregiver for a decade prior to my mom's passing in 2021. She needed 24 hour care and I refused to place her in a nursing home as that was one of her greatest fears. You only have your parents for so long... so I was going to sacrifice whatever I had to as my parents had sacrificed so much for myself and my siblings. A series of unfortunate events and tragedies which started prior to the pandemic have snowballed into an avalanch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
