Hello, my name is Dexx Rushin, and my mother, Shawnta Rushin, died at 49 on April 18th, 2020. She was also the mother of two daughters, Nya who is just 15 and Dionta, the mother of Shawnta's two grandchildren, 3 and 4 yrs old respectively. She was deeply loved by her family and community and we have to figure out how to carry this loss and still survive, in a wildly chaotic and scary moment in time.

I'm reaching out to my community and community at large to ask for your financial support as need to bury our mother, then quickly begin making arrangements for my little sister's well being, making sure she has food and basic needs met. I will also have to support myself while I relocate from NY to KY to take care of services and my family.

Primarily, there is burying our mother and organizing a drive through funeral. The total funeral expenses equal $10,500. These expenses include a casket, burial, pallbearers, flowers, etc.

Our sister, Nya, is a freshman in high school. There is not a moment I want her to take on more than she already has to, like worrying about meals, sanitary products, housing, electricity, clothes or even her bags of chips that she loves. I am asking for $600 to support Nya's wellbeing in the upcoming months and year.

I will need to continue to pay rent at my mom's place for Nya and I to live, indefinitely. For those who do not know me personally, I currently live in New York, and had no means or way to prepare for relocation and taking on my mother's expenses. To support 6 months of rent I'm asking for $1,500.
