On December 4, 2018, Zarina was rushed to the emergency room. She had been ill with flu like symptoms for the previous week. Zarina awoke that dreadful day unable to breath. Upon arrival at the emergency room, and before she could speak to her husband or her children, Zarina was intubated, and placed in an induced coma. She was then rushed by ambulance and police escort to the University Hospital. Zarina was admitted into surgery and attached to an ECMO machine to give oxygen to her body. It was discovered that she had contracted H1N1, and bi-lateral pneumonia. On January 2, 2019 Zarina, having never been able to be reawaken for her family, unfortunately succumbed to her illness and passed away at the young age of 40.
Zarina is survived by her husband Jay, and her two sons Roman aged 11, and Talon aged 5. Zarina was an amazing wife, and Mother to her sons. She was a protective, compassionate, caring Mother. Passing on her amazing personality, and traits, along with her passion for art, crafts, and life. During her battle in the hospital, and since her passing there has been an amazing amount of support and kind words from those whose lives she touched.
We are starting this gofundme page for her husband and two young sons. Zarina was without insurance, hopefully this can assist with childcare and the future education of her and Jays children. The family had just started a business in a different province, and her husband had to return to Edmonton to take care of his family. He has been unable to work since returning home on December 4. They were hoping to move after the school year to begin a new chapter in their lives. We appreciate and thank everybody for any support to help Zarina's family.
