In Memory of Yvonne Harreld

In honor of our most beloved Mother and Gran’Mommy, Yvonne, and the unique relationship she and Roena shared, we respectfully ask for donations to help fund the renovation of Roena's hometown church, All The Gospel Church, in Sta. Juana Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, The Philippines.

God’s divine intervention brought the Caturan and Harreld families together in 2006 when Roena Caturan and A.P. met. Roena and A.P.’s relationship blossomed immediately. Roena was a stunning bride, carrying a bible and handkerchief Mom sent her to carry down the aisle when she and A.P. wedded in the Philippines in December 2007.

After a long wait, the big day came in October 2010 when Roena physically joined our family here in the States. That’s when we learned that our brother, A.P. has excellent taste because adding her to our family is the best decision he ever made!! We fell in love with her! Roena became our lifelong family friend and guardian angel. She was the puzzle piece none of us knew we were missing! Roena is a dedicated sister-in-love to Alice and Ginger and a doting, Aunt to her five nieces and nephews!

In December 2010, Roena celebrated her first Christmas with our family. In 2011, Roena graciously became the nanny for her twin nephews, further nurturing the bond we share with her today.

Although A.P. and Roena mutually parted ways in 2013, Roena never left our lives. She remained in close contact with each of us. After returning home to see her family in the Philippines, Roena returned to the States, and it was like we never skipped a beat. She stayed connected with Yvonne, Carson, Alice, Josh, Ginger, and A.P. This is when we realized we had indeed been given an angel.

Roena has remained a steadfast, faithful friend of our family. She and Yvonne were indeed kindred spirits, and Mom came to see Roena as her third daughter. In April 2022, once Yvonne’s caregiving needs significantly increased, Roena resigned from her current nannying position to go and care for our mother. Roena cared for Mom daily, often pulling 24-hour shifts. She dutifully helped take Mom to medical appointments, slept by her side several nights a week, and learned how to care for someone with limited physical mobility. Roena also lovingly looked after Dad.

The Harreld family is eternally indebted to Roena for all she did to change our lives and how she lovingly cared for the woman that became her Mom, too, through her dying days. Fittingly, Roena was with Mom on the morning of her passing.

Our family desires to return Roena’s dedication to our family by helping her raise funds to renovate and restore her hometown church, All The Gospel Church, in Sta. Juana Tagbina, Surigao del Sur Philippines. It is overdue for repair and restoration. Roena was born and raised in her hometown of Sta. Juana Tagbina Surigao del Sur Philippines. She and her family are decades-long members of their independent hometown church, All The Gospel Church.

After personally funding the new roof for her church, she worked multiple jobs and saved most of her earnings to send home to support her family and church. Roena hired her father, Rolando Caturan, and his carpenters to complete this work.

Roena will continue coordinating the funding for supplies and renovations through her father and his carpenters, which will not only help restore their church but also provide employment opportunities for folks in her hometown.
