My father, Woong Kim, passed away on Friday, April 11th, 2025 at 5:05 AM after enduring a long battle with kidney failure. On April 9th, my dad went to the hospital to receive a biopsy of his lungs. What we thought would be a simple procedure took an unexpected turn. He was placed on life support until his passing on April 11th.
He was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 52. He began dialysis treatments in hopes of getting a kidney transplant, but three years later he was rushed to the ER where he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. His kidney transplant was scheduled later on but with failing a stress test and finding a mass in his lungs, they decided not to move forward with surgery. In January of 2025, my dad finally passed the stress test and was ready for his transplant. The doctors decided to perform a biopsy for the mass as it had grown and to rule out cancer. On April 9th, 2025 he went in for his biopsy and had a heart attack during the procedure. After multiple surgeries and attempts to save him, we decided to let him go peacefully on April 11th at 5:05 AM.
My father was truly a kind and selfless man. Through his pain and suffering, he never once complained and was hopeful for his changes of recovery. He was the best father and role model to me and my brothers. He was the most loving and caring husband to my mom. He was the heart of our family and radiated joy to those around him.
We are asking for any support whether through a donation, message, or prayer. All funds will go towards covering the funeral services and supporting our family. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this time.
