Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Individuals,
On behalf of all the brothers of Psi Chi Omega, we are with great sorrow when we announce the passing of our brother Bill (Will Oriah Saint) Nguyen. On June 6th, 2023, we received news that Will has taken his own life due to an ongoing battle with mental health, specifically dissociation and psychosis. He has touched the lives of many of us in this fraternity during his time with us, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Today, we come together to remember and celebrate the life of our brother, Will Nguyen, a cherished individual who left an indelible mark on our hearts. As we mourn his untimely passing, we are compelled to support Will's family during this challenging time while also advocating for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We humbly ask for your support in this meaningful endeavor.
Will Nguyen was an exceptional individual, a bright mind, and a cherished brother. He always brought the energy up in every room he walked into with his jokes and his overall presence. As the National President of our Psi Chi Omega fraternity, he inspired many with his leadership, compassion, and dedication to the fraternity. Will recently graduated college in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He also harbored aspirations of making a positive impact in the media industry. Tragically, the weight of mental health challenges became overwhelming for Will, leading to his devastating decision to take his own life.
In the face of their inconsolable grief, Will's family now bears the burden of arranging his funeral services, an emotionally and financially daunting task. As an only child, Will's passing has compounded their pain, making the financial strain even more challenging to bear. Our aim is to provide them with the necessary support by raising funds to ease the financial burden and help ensure a dignified farewell for their beloved son.
In addition to assisting Will's family, we want to use this opportunity to raise awareness about mental health challenges and the importance of suicide prevention. By sharing Will's story, we hope to break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health, foster open conversations, and encourage individuals to seek help when they need it most. Through education, advocacy, and support, we can make a significant impact in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues.
Your compassionate contribution, regardless of the amount, will provide immense relief to Will's grieving family. Your generosity will help alleviate their financial burdens during this difficult period, ensuring they can focus on healing and remembering Will's vibrant spirit. Additionally, your donation will support broader efforts aimed at preventing further tragedies, promoting mental health awareness, and advocating for suicide prevention initiatives.
We kindly ask you to share Will's story and this fundraising campaign within your networks. By raising awareness about mental health challenges and the importance of early intervention and support, we can empower others to seek help and provide solace to those in need.
Will’s loss has left an immeasurable void in our lives, but through our collective efforts, we can honor his memory and create positive change. Let us rally together to support his grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time, easing their financial burdens and ensuring a dignified farewell for their beloved son.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. Together, let's stand united in supporting mental health awareness, advocating for suicide prevention, and fostering a more compassionate society. Through our actions, we can make a lasting impact, supporting individuals and families facing the challenges of mental health issues.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Brothers of Psi Chi Omega
