In Memory of Tswv Wa Vaj: Funeral Fund

Hi family and friends,

We are heartbroken to share that our loving father, Tswv Wa Vaj (Chue Wa Vang), passed away on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025. He was more than just a dad to us — he was also a wonderful and caring grandpa who adored and spoiled all 16 of his grandchildren.

Earlier this year, our father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He underwent surgery to remove his bladder in June, but after a month of recovery, the cancer returned more aggressively. He was then diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and his body became too weak to fight off the invasive tumors. Doctors told us that, given his condition, he might only have days to a month left to live. Any further treatment would have caused him more harm as his body had grown too fragile.

With heavy hearts, our family made the hardest decision to place him on at-home hospice care on August 22nd. At first, he was still strong, lively, and full of laughter. He even found the strength to attend the funeral of his uncle. But as the days passed, we began to see his strength fade. He ate and drank less, spoke less, slept more, and was in constant pain.

On Monday, September 22nd, his hospice nurse told us his vitals were declining. The next day, she returned and gently told us that he likely would not make it through the night — and if he did, he would only have until the next day. That evening, all of us — his children, grandchildren, family, and friends — gathered around him. Though he was asleep, we knew he could still hear our voices.

On Wednesday morning, September 24th, we noticed his breathing slow and weaken. His sons stood close as we, his daughters, said our goodbyes. We gathered all the grandchildren so they could say theirs, too. When the last grandchild finished, we all watched together as our beloved father and grandpa took his final breath.

This year has been incredibly difficult for our family — full of hospital visits, long nights, and the pain of watching someone we love suffer. Although he has left us, we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain.

As our family navigates this heartbreaking time, we are raising funds to help cover funeral expenses. Any contribution would mean the world to us — no matter how small. And if you’re unable to donate, your thoughts, prayers, and sharing of this message would mean just as much.

With love and gratitude from the bottom of our hearts,
Thank you.
