We are deeply saddened to share the loss of a truly humble and genuine member of our crew, whose presence touched everyone with kindness, warmth, and quiet strength.
A devoted and loving father to four precious children, whose lives were his greatest joy. A cherished son, a treasured brother, and a deeply loved family member, he held a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
Troy was a humble, gentle, and soft-spoken man, whose calm presence brought comfort to those around him. He often carried a subtle smirk on his face, as though he held a secret piece of wisdom or a private joke that only he understood, leaving those near him with a sense of warmth and curiosity.
We all knew Troy as one of the most careful and steady operators on Panel 2. Many of us remember the times we found ourselves catching up to him, and often sitting patiently behind him, as he made his way with calm precision. What some may not know is that on his very first day at Roy Hill, before being told about the 20 km/h speed limit, he once drove through the crusher corridor a little too quickly. It was a rare and lighthearted moment in the story of a man who would go on to be remembered for his patience and the quiet care he showed in everything he did.
Troy was deeply dedicated to making sure every one of our dump trucks was properly maintained, never overlooking even the smallest detail. His commitment to safety and care was so well known that we often joked the HME dispatchers must have had his photo pinned up, just so they could recognize the man who took such responsibility for keeping us all safe.
And we can’t forget his beloved ‘TRoy Hill’ beanie — a playful twist and a small but perfect example of his humor. That beanie wasn’t just a piece of clothing, it was a symbol of Troy’s spirit, and thinking of it now brings both a smile and a sense of fond remembrance.
Each of us carries very fond memories of Troy. Some that bring laughter, some that bring warmth, and a few that are best kept among those who knew him well. He was truly loved by everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. Kind-hearted to his core, his gentle spirit and genuine nature made him someone people were naturally drawn to and deeply respected.
We kindly ask for your support in helping us raise funds for Troy’s family as they navigate this heartbreaking and difficult time. Your generosity will provide them with much-needed comfort and assistance as they cope with such an unimaginable loss.
