In Memory of Steve Duke

After a long battle with Leukemia, including a period of remission since his bone marrow transplant in January 2017, Steve Duke passed away from Pneumonia and RSV on December 27, 2018.  He leaves behind his wife Jen, and his four children, who will miss him dearly.

Steve was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a huge heart, and was fiercely loyal to anyone he knew. He was extremely witty, and loved to pull pranks and surprise people he knew by doing outlandish things. He teased Jen most of all, and loved to place bets with her, which won him the right to give his young son a mullet for as long as he wanted, and buy and wear a speedo, much to Jen's mortification. He kept everyone around him on their toes, never knowing what he would say or come up with next.

He was extremely intelligent, and after teaching history for a while, decided he wanted to learn Chinese, so went to graduate school at University of Washington, and became fluent. He used that skill to gain a job with the State Department, and subsequently took his family to Shanghai for 2 years, fueling his love of travel.

Steve loved deeply, especially his wife and children. He wanted to stay with them, and fought very hard through all of his treatments and the pain to stay with them. Ultimately, it is his faith in God, and belief in eternal families that will keep him with his family.

In addition to losing the love of their life, and father, Steve's family now faces the stress of high expenses from his medical care, funeral expenses, and losing the primary breadwinner of the family.  If you can assist in any way, it will be very appreciated.
