Unexpectedly on 9/28/25 the earth lost a wonderful soul leaving our worlds shattered.
Steve Claussen of Sioux City, a critical care nurse, an avid hunter, a Hawks fan & loved Sunday golf with good friends. Above all, Steve was the most amazing family man, the kind every man strives to be. He was patient, kind, practical, smart, funny and always reliable. He leaves behind three amazing kids he and his wife Karla raised. Tyler (Belle) and Jacob (Elexis) are grown and wonderful young men, whom he was so very proud of. He and Karla love Elexis and Belle as if they were their own daughters. He also leaves behind his beloved daughter Trinity, who is a senior this year at West High School. She absolutely stole his heart from the day they met. He and Karla had a love that most can only dream of- truly best friends and have been at each others sides through all of life's ups and downs.
Steve was the best colleague I ever had, he was always calm cool and collected and undeniably fun to work with. He was always there to help, and no matter how bad the night was- he made it better. He went on to manage an ICU; and make an army of calm cool collected nurses. His impact will be felt for years to come.
Steve would be there for any of our families, if roles were reversed. I humbly ask everyone to donate if they can but specifically I ask all the nurses to share with every nurse they know and consider donating in honor of their work bestie(s). We all know how hard nursing is; and we all know you have that one person(s) who make it tolerable.
Pictured here is much of the "old" ICU crew that made life bearable, including Steve's best friends and hunting buddies: Roy & Roy..... aka Kelly & Doug.
His Unity Point Crew below- that he led with his call demeanor-- it is drama? If so turn around! He was beloved by his team!
Steve would always say "it'll be alright".. so Steve... It will be all right, but it won't be easy. We will all help take care of your family- and we love you so much!
