In Loving Memory of Dr. Satya Sriram Somanchi

Dear colleagues and friends,
It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden and heartbreaking passing of our beloved Sriram Somanchi, who left us far too soon at the age of 39.
Sriram was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished friend, and a brilliant academic. He leaves behind his wife, Soumya, and their two young children (6 and 1 year old). While we grieve an immeasurable loss, we also remember a life defined by warmth, humility, and a deep sense of purpose.
Sriram’s professional accomplishments were matched only by his character. As an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame, he was a trailblazer in the field of machine learning and healthcare analytics. A Carnegie Mellon Ph.D. and a mentor to many, he was revered not only for his intellect but for the kindness and integrity he brought into every collaboration. Sriram was a rising star in the Information Systems community. In an irony that feels especially cruel, he also published a paper on predicting cardiac arrest from EMR data. His scholarship, which blended rigorous machine-learning techniques with genuine concern for patient outcomes, set him apart as a researcher.
But above all, Sriram was a family man. His children were the joy of his life, and everything he did was with their future in mind.
Why We’re Asking for Your Support:
In honor of Sriram’s legacy, we are establishing a fund dedicated to securing the educational and personal future of the children.
This is not just a fundraiser. It is a living tribute to Sriram’s values—his belief in the power of education, the importance of family, and the quiet strength of community.
Your contributions will go directly toward:
• Long-term education funds for the children
• Stability and support for their emotional and developmental well-being
• Preserving Sriram’s memory in a way that would make him proud
In addition to your contribution to the fund, we request you honor Satya Sriram by sharing this page with your friends and keeping his family in your thoughts and prayers
With love, remembrance, and gratitude,
Family and Friends of Sriram Somanchi
