In memory of Sri Lankan beach dog Coco

For the last 6 months i've been living in Sri Lanka during COVID-19, based in the south caring for four beautiful beach dogs. One in particular warmed my heart the moment i saw her.  I named her Coco, she was a happy healthy girl all she wanted was love and to be surrounded by those she knew she could trust.

Coco knew the moment i arrived, there was no where i could be that she couldn't find me.  She quickly became part of my online teaching community, joined in on my sunrise/sunset walks, ocean swims, meditation and all the many photo takings. Although she knew she wasn't allowed on the grounds  she would quietly arrive and sit her little sweet self as close to me as possible

On the 24th of July 2020 Coco was killed for no apparent reason,  the person is yet unknown. Coco along with thousands of Sri Lankan Dogs live for survival they are lucky if they make it through another season to be cared for my the westerners. This footage was captured a few months before cocos life was taken away (she is the one to my left). Dogs are not regarded very well in many parts of the world, those who are the strongest survive, the harm inflicted on animals is continuing and perhaps rising even more.

In the time i cared for Coco she received nothing but love and care.  She brought so much joy not only to my life but so many other travellers during her life as a beach dog.

My dear friend Jo Jo  and I have a short amount time left in Sri Lanka, together we are reaching out to world for support to help purchase medical supplies and buy as much food as we can, allowing us to feed and treat as many dogs along the east, south & west of Sri Lanka as we can.

There are thousands upon thousands of street dogs who are in desperate need of food, water, shelter, medical attention and love. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't stop to feed the dogs throughout the day.  Our hope is for the next wave of children to be educated on the caring for animals and to understand all they want is love just as we humans do. There is a high level of animal cruelty and neglect, it's emotionally and physically overwhelming . With your help we can help so many more dogs who are suffering.
