In Memory of Sleigan Laroc: Funeral Fund

Hello, my name is Martine Cherubin, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my family to honor the life of my dear cousin, Sleigan Laroc (25), who tragically passed away on July 19, 2025, after an unwitnessed drowning at a pool party in Long Island, NY.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds for Sleigan’s funeral and memorial arrangements. It is with immense sorrow and heavy hearts that we have to share this tragic and sudden loss of our beloved cousin, Sleigan Laroc, who drowned at a pool party on July 19, 2025, in Long Island, NY.

This was an unwitnessed drowning, something none of us could have ever imagined on what started as a night filled with laughter, joy, and celebration. In a matter of moments, that joy turned into horror. Sleigan’s lifeless body was found in the pool, and CPR was performed immediately until EMS arrived and took over. He was then transferred to a local hospital in Medford, LI, where they continued rescue efforts, but despite every effort, he could not be revived. We are still grappling with how this could have happened so quietly and so quickly.

Sleigan had just recently arrived in the U.S. from Haiti last year, full of hope and dreams for a better life, not just for himself, but for the family he tirelessly supported back home. He was humble, kind, and hardworking, giving selflessly with the little he had. He touched everyone he met with his quiet strength and warm spirit. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to us and will go directly toward making arrangements to lay Sleigan to rest.
