In Memory of Sharanjit (Sonu) Kang
Donation protected
Sharanjit (Sonu) Kang was a devoted husband and father of 2 young daughters aged 15 and 7. He also leaves behind his mother, father and 2 sisters. Sonu, as all his family, friends and co-workers liked to call him was a dedicated worker on the Waterfront and a proud member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. He worked hard to make a great life for himself and build a family in Canada since he arrived in 2005. Sonu's young family has been through an enormous amount of tragedy the last few yrs as his younger brother, who was also a casual worker for the ILWU suddenly passed away in 2022 at the young age of 32. Sonu was the only worker in his family and was also only 40 yrs old at the time of his passing. He leaves behind his young wife and his 2 very young daughters without any source of income. Once again our ILWU family has lost another member far before their time was up. "An Injury to One is an Injury to All" is a motto we all like to live by at the ILWU and it's at times like this when we step up and show it. No amount of money can bring back or replace a lost loved one but all of us can relate to the difficulties our families would endure with the tragic loss of the only breadwinner in the family. Let's all show our support for our brother Sonu.
