Update: There is a link below to a letter from Cyndy Zhu, Shaofei's daughter.
On November 1st, the nuclear physics community lost a dear friend and a researcher of the highest caliber. Shaofei Zhu's passing has left an unfillable hole in our hearts. He was always a joy to be around, always with a smile on his face and always eager to help others. As co-author on nearly 400 papers, it is clear that he gave his time and effort generously, often at the expense of his research and family time.
Shaofei always talked lovingly about his wife Xiangbin and proudly of his children, Cyndy, now studying mechanical engineering in college, and Sean, a high school football player. In their time of grieving, we would like to help them carry their emotional load by lightening their financial burden.
