Update:
First, I would like to thank all that have shared and donated. To date, we have been able to raise nearly $3,000. At this time, there is no update on when we will be able to hold a memorial service. Kecia and the family are still working to bring Isaiah home.
Please continue to share this fundraiser. As previously mentioned, all proceeds (minus any GoFundMe surcharges) are being sent directly to Kecia. This entire situation still feels like a bad dream. Let's help this family by removing any financial burden, so that they can focus on healing and trying to navigate this tragic time in their lives. We love you, and thank you for your support.
Original Post:
At the request of the family, I (Aaron Deem) am setting up this GoFundMe to help the Cross family during this difficult time.
As many of you know, we lost a great man last week. Isaiah (Shaun) Cross was a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a soldier and a friend. To know him was to love him, as evidenced by the number of people who have already reached out with their respects and condolences. Here is a brief excerpt, regarding his military service:
"Retired Sgt. 1st Class Cross was a career-oriented person who held numerous positions as part of telecommunications teams during his time in the military. He continued to expand his growing knowledge base and expert skills, while meeting new challenges in the field of computer networking and cybersecurity. He was a process driven, flexible team member who was always eager to learn new skills and worked well under pressure. During his time in the military, Retired Sgt. 1st Class Cross received various awards and recognition for high achievement and exemplary performance. As a Problem and Incident Manager for the Defense Information Systems Agency, he was a strong asset in problem solving and delivering 20+ years of experience in the military allowed him to hone the necessary technical and leadership skills needed to work as part of a team, as well as independently."
There's little we can do to ease the pain and heartbreak of having him taken from us so suddenly. However, we can ensure that the financial burden does not fall solely on his surviving family members. We are asking that those who can, please donate to this cause as your heart sees fit. For those unable to donate, I ask that you keep this family in your prayers, as they have been through turbulent times these past few months.
Rest assured, all funds (minus any GoFundMe surcharges) will go directly to Kecia Cross. She will disseminate the funds as needed, with regards to funeral costs, moving expenses, and most importantly his daughter.
At this time, funeral arrangements are not known. The family is presently working through the process of bringing him home. I have listed 25 October 2024 as a tentative date only.
We, the family & friends of Isaiah (Shaun) Cross thank you for your help. Please keep each of us in your prayers.
