In Memory of Sarah Cowart
Donation protected
We are devastated and heartbroken to share that Sarah Louise (Wittenberg) Cowart passed away unexpectedly.
After struggling with a persistent, debilitating headache and sinus infection for several weeks, she was scheduled for further testing when she collapsed at home. Her seizure uncovered a brain abscess that was too advanced for her body to overcome. She passed away at Mercy Hospital Saint Louis on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
She leaves behind a loving husband, Mike, two beautiful children, Charlie (10) and Vivian (7), her parents, Peggy and Randy Wittenberg, her brother Tom, her mother-in-law, Glenda Cowart, and many, many extended family members and friends who adored her.
So many people have reached out already to ask how they can provide support. We’re so grateful, and we ask that everyone be patient as the answers don’t always come easily. There is no template for this. It happened out of the blue and is a complete shock to everyone who knew her.
As we continue to navigate what happens next and look for ways to provide both direct and indirect support in the days and weeks to come, we created this GoFundMe for those who have asked about sending memorials in honor of Sarah.
The weight of this loss will resonate well into the future, so we invite anyone who wishes to contribute to donate any amount to both help offset any unexpected expenses that may arise in the coming weeks, and be used toward Charlie and Vivian’s future college expenses.
Thank you for your kind words, compassion, thoughts, prayers, messages and love during this incredibly difficult time. We can feel the positive energy around us. Please know it’s making a difference.
As her final gift, Sarah donated her organs to others in need. As you remember Sarah, we ask that you continue to give of yourself in all the ways she would’ve wanted: living fully, creating happiness, speaking kindly, hugging daily, smiling often, hoping more, laughing freely, seeking truth, inspiring change and loving deeply.
