In Memory of Robert Barba
Donation protected
Greetings Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform everyone of the passing of our beloved friend and compatriot, Robert Barba. Rob passed on October 16th from complications due to being hit by an irresponsible driver on September 10th. As such, we are putting this together to help aid his family with funeral expenses and final bills as they weather this difficult time.
For those who may not have known him, Rob was a husband, artist (Manga & Web Comics), Navy vet, and a strong supporter of numerous fandom communities. He was also branching into streaming, music, and type designing (Fonts). He was a kind, jovial soul, always giving his time and energy to his friends, community, or just those in need, and always with a quirky joke or a silly voice.
For those that knew Rob, it was probably through the multiple conventions he helped staff and organize. He was the Webmaster for Fur the More (a Furry convention in Herndon, VA) and Miryokucon (an Anime/Japanese Pop Culture convention in Baltimore, MD). His biggest contributions were when he was the Programming Director at Katsucon and Anime USA (both Anime Conventions in the Washington, D.C. area) as well as being the Con Chair for Anime USA twice. Through his art, his knowledge of Japanese culture, and his love of the fandom communities, Rob was able to touch and enrich the lives of countless people.
Service will be at the Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA on December 7th, at 11 am. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers for the Barba family. Any donations, regardless of amount, is greatly appreciated, and we thank you.
