In memory of Riordan Catton

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share the news that this sweet boy lost his battle with cancer this week. As many of you already know, Riordan Catton was diagnosed with a rare brain stem tumor (DIPG: https://www.stjude.org/disease/diffuse-intrinsic-pontine-glioma.html) with metastases elsewhere in his brain. He started showing symptoms on his 11th birthday in August 2020, and received radiation treatment that didn’t improve his condition. There was no other available cancer treatment and he was unfortunately not eligible for any clinical trials, and the cancer took him in just a handful of months.  However much we are grieving Riordan’s loss, we know that the years we had with him were worth all of the years that we will now live apart from him. He was unique in this world and we are better people for having him in our lives.

Riordan was my son Bo’s best friend. They met at the Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, GA, when they were 18 months old, and were inseparable from that point on. Riordan used to tell his mom, Ailis, that he wanted to play with “BoJohn”, which was my son’s and husband’s names mashed together, pretty much every day. We spent many holidays with Riordan and his family and we loved this kiddo like he was our own child, and even moving away from Atlanta to another state didn’t end Bo’s and Riordan’s friendship. His loss leaves a huge hole in our hearts, as it does for all those who knew him.

Many of you have reached out to ask what you can do. Please consider helping out his family, Ailis, Mitchell and little brother, Brennan, through this difficult time as they navigate this tragedy and move forward in life without him. All donations small or large are greatly appreciated and will go directly to the family to assist with end-of-life costs and future expenses as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives and regain their footing in life. Riordan’s loss has devastated them.

This fundraiser has been created with the approval of his family. We are in close contact with them and will be here to support them as they navigate this tragedy.

We have also set up a memorial card: https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/rPhy8KpW. Please consider signing the card, and writing about your favorite memory of Riordan, or anything that will help memorialize him. Upload photos of Riordan if you have any. The family will appreciate it.
