In Memory of Richard Switzer: Support His Loved Ones

In Loving Memory of Richard Switzer

On March 26, I received the heartbreaking news that my father-in-law, Richard Switzer, had passed away. As many of you know, I’ve been with his son Aaron for well over 15 years, and in that time, ‘Pops’, became not just family, but a true example of what it means to love, lead, and care for others.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He opened his heart and his home to everyone, regardless if you were blood or not. He was the kind of man who always had a captivating story to tell, a delicious home-cooked meal ready for anyone hungry, and a strong commitment to family gatherings, even if he wasn't feeling well and there wasn't much space left, you always had a place in his home.

In remembrance, I am grateful for the many ways he made me feel welcomed and loved. I will never forget the time I visited from Puerto Rico, he surprised me by baking a strawberry cake for my birthday and while he cooked, brought back memories by playing 70s salsa songs (which he knows and loves!). Just this past Christmas, he designed and handmade a dice tower for Aaron and I to use while we played D&D. It was a gift that reflected not only his incredible craftsmanship but also his thoughtfulness for making others happy. Even things as simple as asking how my mom and dad were doing at each visit and hanging my father’s painting on his walls. If you were within his circle, he was genuinely invested in you.

Of course, we had many moments at the cabin, shooting range, and family events to know there is so much more to tell and so much more I have experienced because of him. I love and miss you pops.

My heart breaks for his wife, children, and extended family, both near and far, as they navigate this sudden and tragic loss. We all grieve together during this difficult time, and your support, no matter how big or small, can help ease the burdens we now face.

I’m humbly asking for your donations to help cover funeral services and support his family as they try to manage this unexpected hardship. Every contribution will go directly to his wife, Gigi, to help with the financial strains this loss brings.

Thank you for any support you can provide during this incredibly painful time.
