Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with unimaginable grief and heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Ribka Ghebrenegus, a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend, who lost her life unexpectedly while returning home to Canada from a deeply meaningful trip to Eritrea.

Rebka had traveled to Eritrea to reconnect with her roots, visit family, and introduce her beloved sons Esey and Ermias to their heritage. It was a journey of love and family. But on the way home, tragedy struck in mid flight.

While en route back to Canada with her two boys, Rebka passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Her two young boys are now left without their mother, traumatized and grieving in a way no child should ever experience.

We are raising funds to help cover the urgent and overwhelming costs that this tragedy has brought upon the family, including:

• Repatriation of Ribka Ghebrenegus back to Canada so she can be laid to rest among her loved ones

• Immediate care and support for her two boys, including basic needs, and transitional support

• Legal and travel expenses incurred due to the sudden loss

• Longer-term funds to help secure a stable future for Esey and Ermias

Ribka Ghebrenegus was known for her warmth, her unshakable faith, and her tireless devotion to her children. She worked hard to build a better life for them in Canada, always putting their needs first. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

Now, in her memory, we ask you to come together and help honor her life by ensuring her sons are surrounded by the love, care, and stability they now so desperately need.

No amount is too small, and every share, every message, and every prayer matters. Let’s show these boys that they are not alone. Let’s help carry them through this darkness with the same love and strength their mother showed every day of her life.
