In memory of Reth Vong

It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Reth Vong on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Loving husband to Hoeun Nov and father to Rath, Tharie (Andrew), Thearin and Phirak. Ta (grandfather) was Reth’s all-time favourite title. He was a proud grandfather to Calvin, Emma and Ruby and showered them with love. Predeceased by his parents, Reth is also survived by two brothers (in Cambodia) and two sisters (in Australia).
Reth was born in Cambodia on March 12, 1956. Following several years at Khao l’Dang, Reth came to Canada as a refugee with his young family in 1985. Reth spoke proudly of his love for Canada and the life he and his family built here together.
A kind, sweet man, Reth had a great sense of humour and the best smile. He gave his constant love and devotion not only to his family but also his community, friends and coworkers. He will be deeply missed.
Reth was an active and engaged member of the Bodhikaram Temple, a place of worship and meeting for the Cambodian Buddhist community in Ottawa, which he faithfully and wholeheartedly served, attending service every weekend and volunteering as a committee member, treasurer and bookkeeper. An incredibly hard worker, Reth was always helping others - spending his final moments doing so.
For those wishing to donate. We will continue with our dad's work, in serving the community he loved, we are raising money for defibrillators, and first aid training for members of the Bodhikaram Temple. Any remaining funds will support our mother.
