Our family is creating this page on behalf of Ronnie Roybal, who recently lost his son, RC Roybal.
RC was only 20 years old. He was funny, full of life, and deeply loved by so many.
Outside of the hospital, Ronnie and RC shared a deep love for racing cars and spending time at the racetrack together. It was something they bonded over, moments of joy, normalcy, and connection. Now, Ronnie is facing the painful reality of returning to those places without his son by his side.
As the world moves through holidays, celebrations, and birthdays, Ronnie is facing his first of each without RC, moments that once brought joy now carrying the weight of loss.
RC passed away after a long, courageous battle with Ewing sarcoma. He fought this disease for years through surgeries, chemotherapy, hospital stays, setbacks, and relapses, with strength and resilience far beyond his age. RC was only 20 years old. He should have had a lifetime ahead of him. Our hearts are broken by his loss, and he will always be with us.
Throughout this entire journey, Ronnie never left his son’s side.
Over the past year, Ronnie has been unable to work consistently as he focused on caring for RC, attending medical appointments, staying at the hospital, advocating for his care, and simply being the father his son needed every single day. Like so many families facing childhood and young adult cancer, the emotional toll was enormous, and the financial impact has been devastating.
Now, in the wake of losing his son, Ronnie is facing grief no parent should ever have to endure, while also carrying the weight of lost income, ongoing bills, and daily expenses. The world keeps moving, even when a father’s heart has been shattered.
We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden so Ronnie can grieve without the immediate pressure of returning to work before he is emotionally ready. Funds raised will go toward:
• Lost income from time away from work
• Medical bills
• Basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, and groceries
• Funeral and memorial expenses
• Giving Ronnie the time and space he needs to begin healing
