It is with a heavy heart that I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Jack Pickens, who gained his nickname, “Rambo”, years before I met him. After a brief battle with congestive heart failure, Jack passed peacefully at home on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
There are very few of us in this world who will be lucky enough to leave a legacy behind with our passing. Jack is one of those rare gifts to the world, which sadly, will not be understood for years and years to come. He often quoted Albert Einstein in the 30+ years we were together, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
Jack is and was a great spirit who will be deeply missed by those who knew his “Einstein” inspired great spirit. Someday, I believe Jack will be seen as the true patriot that he is while those of us left behind will never forget his sacrifice. Sadly, ignorance alienates the masses and mass hysteria is always easier to believe than the truth.
Many times, I would say to Jack, “People do not understand you and what you’re saying. Why do you waste your time and energy?” He would always respond that it didn’t matter if people understood him, because some part of them had gotten the message with what he was saying, whether they believed him or not.
Jack always saw the good and light in people and never ever hesitated to stand up against evil, cruelty and injustice. Jack loved God and Jack loved America.
A monetary donation will not ease the pain of his passing; however, it will help ease the financial burden of his unexpected departure.
I know Jack would say, “God Bless You.”
To which I can only add, “Go in Peace.”
