In memory of Phil Reilly

“What brought you joy today?”   That is the question that my friend, Phil Reilly, would regularly ask me as he was undergoing treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In Phil’s darkest moments, he was more concerned about everyone around him, than his own well-being. Phil received joy from being around his family and friends. Phil adored his wife, Kathy, and two daughters, Maura and Meghan, and he was extremely proud of their achievements both at work and school. He treasured time with his daughters by attending their sporting events and extracurricular activities.   Phil loved attending family and neighborhood gatherings.   He celebrated others by putting everyone else in the spotlight.   Phil was the ‘expert’ in his field and enjoyed sharing his knowledge.  Phil’s contributions were celebrated at the financial institution where he worked for 33 years. In addition to receiving the company’s most prestigious award in 1995, Phil earned numerous accolades from management and his colleagues.     Phil Reilly passed away on August 1, 2020, after being diagnosed with AML in October 2019.    So the answer to the question above…what brought me joy? That would be Phil’s presence and his contribution to our small part of the world. Phil brought me joy. He enriched my life, as he did with so many others.  Please help us honor the late Phil Reilly and his battle with AML.
