UPDATE: A celebration of life will take place on Sunday September 29 from 2-5 p.m. at the Mulligans Hollow Lodge. A brief service will be held at 3 p.m. with fellowship welcome before and after.

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we share the news of Peyton Rebone’s passing, who tragically lost his life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the tender age of 24. On Thursday, September 19, while driving his truck to work, Peyton pulled over to address a concern with his vehicle. Tragically, the truck dislodged and collapsed on him, causing severe internal bleeding and damage. Although Peyton did not survive, his selfless spirit shone through. He had always expressed a strong desire to be an organ donor, and his parents, Bob Rebone and Leigh White, were able to honor his wishes. On Saturday, September 21, Peyton gave the greatest gift by passing the gift of life on to many others through his courageous act of organ donation. While surrounded by his family, friends, and his favorite music, Peyton was provided the Honor Walk by the tremendous staff at Trinity Health in Muskegon.

Peyton was not only a son to his beloved parents, Bob and Leigh, or a brother to his cherished siblings, Taylor and Jaxson; he was a vibrant spirit brimming with dreams and ambitions, poised to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life. He had recently put down money for his first shop and apartment with his girlfriend, Kallee. You may remember Peyton from Mulligan’s Hollow or even from winning the Coast Guard Race at the age of 10 while dressed in a dog costume (they unfortunately recorded his winning time in the girls' category—no one realized he was a boy because of his costume). Peyton had a loving heart and a sparkle in his eye that will forever be cherished. As one dear friend shared: “I found myself in some trouble, and Peyton called me every single day for a year. He loaned me money and took care of me—even my parents didn’t do that. He was the most genuine soul.” Many in the community may recall his father, Bob, a long time Economics teacher and coach at Spring Lake High School, known for being one of the first teachers selected for the Grand Haven Foundation Student Awards Assembly each year. His mother, Leigh, works for Magna (automotive) and is actively involved in the community, and his sister, Taylor, is a 2020 graduate of SLHS and recent MSU grad. His brother Jaxon currently attends Grand Haven High School.

In the wake of this unimaginable loss, we ask for your support to help ease the financial burden faced by the Rebone family. The sudden and unexpected medical and funeral costs have left them in a difficult position during this already challenging time. Any contribution—big or small—will help honor Peyton’s memory and provide the support his family needs to navigate this painful journey. Together, we can make a meaningful impact during this heart-wrenching time. As a community, let us rally around the Rebone family and show them that they are not alone in their hour of need. Your kindness and generosity will make a difference and celebrate the beautiful spirit of Peyton Rebone. Thank you for your heartfelt support.
