In Memory of Peter North - Powerful Owl Project

To honour the memory of our beloved Peter, the North family kindly ask that donations are made to the Bird Life Australia Powerful Owl Project (POP) in lieu of flowers.
As we remember Peter, the strong and loving head of the family, praised for his wise counsel to all, it seems appropriate that his totem becomes the Powerful Owl.
Peter had a deep commitment to wellbeing and sustainability of our planet, from the early days with Club of Rome and his advocacy for action on climate change. Peter was also very supportive of Ronwyn's community work with the Powerful Owls, contributing to the discovery and conservation of a nearby nest on the Lower North Shore.
This fundraising effort is a tangible legacy towards supporting this precious and threatened species of owl, an effort that is close to both our home and our hearts. The funds raised will be donated directly to Bird Life Australia by the North Family.

Bird Life Australia - About the Powerful Owl

Powerful by name and powerful by nature, the Powerful Owl is Australia's largest owl - and is under threat. Since 2011, the Powerful Owl Project, with the aid of citizen scientists and volunteers (like Ronwyn!) have collected critical data on Sydney’s Powerful Owl population to understand the ecology, such as breeding behaviour, diet, and habitat characteristics, with an aim to inform the conservation status and help drive management recommendations for their continued survival in urban areas.
