Every little bit helps. Our mom Carol, lost her mother (our grandmother) on March 13, 2019 only to be followed by the passing of her father just 7 days later. Our grandparents moved back up to Western New York from Florida last year. Unfortunately, the unexpected passings placed an enormous financial burden on my parents.
Our dad went to see his doctor for stomach pain just this past Monday. He was then directed to go to the hospital for further testing. Within a few short hours he was sent in for emergency surgery due to a clot in his aortic artery. Since things had transpired so rapidly, our family was not with him during the time he was rushed into surgery. We were contacted by the hospital suggesting we get there as quickly as possible as things were quite uncertain. Unfortunately we were unable to arrive before surgery and did not get the chance to see him or say good bye. We lost Pete on Tuesday 4/30/19.
Just as Carol was trying to work through her grief from the loss of her parents, her husband's passing has left her completely broken. Our mom is no longer working and has not been able to think about what comes next. Pete was scheduled to retire from his job in just a month on May 29th. They were both looking so forward to this retirement as it was going to be the beginning of the next chapter of their lives.
Our parents exhausted their resources in making arrangements for our grandparents. Our dad was young. He was only 62 and assumed he had many many more years with his family (as we all do). Pete and Carol were so fortunate to have celebrated 40 years of marriage less than a year ago. As we grieve, we are trying to be there for mom. She has lost so much in such little time.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for all the condolences, prayers, phone calls, and messages that we have received from our family and friends. The love and support has been so helpful as we get through each aching moment.
We are setting up this page and asking for some help for mom. We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial burden of the funeral costs as she is unable to think beyond yesterday. We appreciate all of you from the bottom of our hearts.
