Geronimo "Ronnie" Kantere

 

Papa Ronnie was called by the lord on December 15, 2021. He was doing dialysis for 12 years and was 84 years old. Not many can say that doing dialysis treatment and living to be that age is a blessing, but it was definitely another way of him saying he was very stong and was still fighting. After numerous times of going back and forth to the hospital, close calls and just overall change of condition. Papa Ronnie always found ways to make everyone happy regardless of his condition.

 

I'm pretty sure about everyone in the family and friends knows how he was and how his personality lit up the room. He was always so kind and giving and always made sure everyone was taken care of. During the start of the pandemic, it was really hard on him due to us constantly reminding him that he needs to be cautious and limit the times we get close with each other in the household. Papa Ronnie always loved hanging out with us in the dining room watching TV or in the kitchen cooking. The fact that this whole situation happened he was still trying his best to be positive and always found a way to make us smile.

Having me as a nursing grad and having to take care of him and use the knowledge I knew to help made me feel that I made him proud, but of course I always felt that it wasn’t enough. Working around elders and handling all other conditions and even death was something I learned to keep my composure and still show sympathy but with my Papa everything hit ten times harder and, the thought I could do all I can to keep him I knew it wouldn’t be forever.

 

We are all very saddened about his passing, but we know that he is no longer suffering and in pain. As it was very hurtful to see him in that condition, we know he is resting well and with the lord and other loved ones who have passed.

 

I'm starting this fundraiser because I know that this pandemic basically runined alot and put a heavy weight on everyone financially. With my Papa's passing, it took away additional income that was helping with my Mama Ester, also with all the prices for everything going up and the commutes to places to have almost everything settled for my Papa's wishes. The funds will be going towards the funeral sevices and also for the additional expenses in this difficult time.

 

We definitely  appreciate anything given and know that this help will go a long way. Thank you all so much.
