In Memory of our sweet Angel Virginia Quintana

Hi my name is Rosie and I want to share the story of my sweet angel and hero Virginia, my older sister also knows as Mina. Virginia was born on March 17 1969 in Brooklyn, NY. She left us unexpectedly on Sat October 16th 2021. Virginia was very loving, kind, gentle and sweet. Virginia was loved by so many. Everyone who knew her loved her very much. Her smile was so contagious it branded everyone deeply. If you ask anyone who knew her what do you remember about her they will say her smile. She had a smile that would light up a room. If you were having a bad day and saw her, her smile would transcend and uplift your soul. Your day would brighten up with her hugs. She loved to give hugs and would not let go of you. She looked up to everyone and loved people wholeheartedly. She was genuine in everything she did. She loved to sing and dance and listen to others. She enjoyed having company and good food. Virginia genuinely loved the Lord. Her passion was to sing praises in church every chance she could.

For those who don't know, Virginia was born with Down Syndrome. She was not expected to survive past 6 months, but God had other plans for her. Doctors said that if she survived she would not walk or talk... But God! Yes God breathed life into her frail body and said "this one is mine. She will shine with my glory!". God decided she will live and love with a pure heart, and despite what the doctors say she walked and talked. God gave her 52 precious years here on earth. She was my mothers present from God and became my mothers companion. Virginia was very smart. She learned to speak Spanish and English she even learned American Sign Language. She would come home from school and teach us words in sign language. She was great at sharing the things she learned in school. Virginia loved taking care of others. She watched over us her siblings and played with us for hours. She made sure we were always ok and in return we took care of her as well.

Virginia is my hero! We decided as a family to donate her skin cells, bone marrow, ventricular vessels and many other parts of her body to help others and within days of her death we were informed that she had already helped 54 people and counting. Her brain was donated for medical research for Alzheimer's and other diseases. Virginia completed her purpose in helping those lives. I am in awe of what she has accomplished in death. We are grateful to God for allowing us her presence for so many years. It has been a blessing to have her with us as part of our family.

For those who would like to see Virginia for the last time the viewing will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021 from 6pm to 9pm at the Ortiz Funeral Home located at 201 Havemeyer Street Brooklyn, NY 11211. Her burial will be Friday Oct 22, 2021. With the funeral costs rising we ask for your help and support in this very difficult time . The cost to bury Virginia is approximately $14,000.00. A gift of any amount will be very appreciated. Our parents unfortunately don't have the means for such expensive funeral costs and we ask if you can find it in your heart to help lay our angel to rest in peace. Heroes deserve to be honored with love and we as a family want the best for her even in her passing.
