Hi, my name is Chloe, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my little girl, Kyah, who sadly passed away at only 5 months old. She had so much life left to live, and losing her has broken our hearts.

On the 10th of December, Kyah was bitten by a baby brown snake in the backyard of her own home — the place where she should have always been safe. Her big brother was also bitten, but the snake released all of its venom into Kyah.

My mum knew something was wrong when Kyah suddenly started panting heavily and blood began coming from her mouth. She rushed her straight to the vet while I was at work, and I met them there as fast as I could. From the moment she arrived, she fought as hard as she possibly could.

Kyah received two doses of antivenom, oxygen therapy because she couldn’t breathe on her own, a plasma transfusion, butorphanol for pain relief, and so many more medications to try to stabilise her and give her a chance to recover. After everything she went through, I truly believed she might pull through. But later that day the vet called to tell me she was getting worse — her lungs were filling with blood, and she still couldn’t breathe on her own. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go, and she was peacefully euthanised on the 10th of December.

Kyah wasn’t just a puppy — she was my little cuddle buddy, full of personality and joy. When I called her name, she would sprint over, sit in front of me, and wag her tail like a little whip. She loved getting into the Christmas presents (I think she believed they were all hers), and she teased her older brother by squeezing into spots he couldn’t reach. She brought so much love, laughter, and warmth into our home — and somehow managed to bring even more every single day. She truly was the best puppy I could ever have asked for, and our family will forever feel the space she left behind.

The total vet bill has come to $5,000, and it has been extremely overwhelming on top of the pain of losing her. Any amount, even the smallest contribution, would mean the absolute world to me and my family as we try to cover her vet bills and cremation costs.
