In memory of our colleague & friend, Terry Mukuka

We recently lost our dear friend and colleague, Terry Mukuka.

Terry joined AVAC 3.5 years ago as our first ever Program Manager for Grants Management – a long-overdue position that we needed to fill quite desperately – to support the team and the growing partnership network. We had the incredible good fortune to find not only a supremely qualified grants manager but one of the kindest, gentlest people we’ve ever worked with.

Terry was truly a gentle giant – incredibly calm and caring, dedicated and passionate, funny and fun. His contributions to what we do at AVAC have been extraordinary, but more than that was how he worked – with each one of us, with each project, with each partner. He reminds us that it is not only what we do, but how we do it that really matters.

We are still in many forms of disbelief and sadness, and we will look for ways to celebrate Terry’s life and contributions. Here we are collecting funds that will go to Terry's family.

We continue to see Terry in our minds and hear his beautiful laughter in our ears. We hope that his life so well lived and loved will be some comfort for us all.
