Yesterday, our world changed forever. We lost our mother, Sonya, a woman who was truly a mother to everyone she met. The kind of love she gave, the light she carried, and the energy she brought into every room is something that can never be replaced. Everything we are is a reflection of the unconditional love she gave so freely.

More than anything, she was an incredible woman. Whether you knew her as Sonya Bonya, Mama Sonya or just Sonya, she was a mom to all…to know her is to be her own kin. Our mother never picked favorites, if she knew you, she brought you immediately into the family. She made everyone feel like they belonged, she was a queen, a legend, and a light in so many lives.

She loved us in a way that made us feel safe, seen, and unstoppable. Our mother poured so much into our family, constantly reminding us to be confident in who we are, to take up space, and to dream bigger than any room we walked into. She did not just love us, she built us.

If you knew her, you felt her warmth, her laughter, and her presence. She was the life of every party, a true fashionista, and someone who made people feel at home no matter where they came from. Sonya found joy in the simple things, a great tennis match, a shopping trip, and her favorite fruit juices, but nothing meant more to her than her children, her grandchildren, and her family.

Our mother transitioned on March 31st, 2026, after a sudden and courageous battle with Stage 4 Cancer. It was just one month ago, our mother was diagnosed, in that time she fought with all her strength and we are so grateful that we were able to be with her until the end. Even in the face of something so heavy, she continuously reminded us of what true strength is.

As we try to process this unimaginable loss, we are asking for any support, in any form, to help ease this burden during such a difficult time. Anything you can give will help us celebrate her life and carry on her beautiful legacy.
