Oliver sadly passed away in April 2018, in Florida, after a long and bravely fought battle with Leukaemia.
Oliver began his love affair with tennis ,which was life long, when at the age of ten , he joined the tennis club in his home town of Llantwit Major, in South Wales UK.The club inspired him to take a sports scholarship in America, which was the start of his career as a tennis coach ,specialising in young people. He obtained the highest qualifications of PTR Master of Tennis Development, PTR Master of Tennis Performance, and IPTA Master of Tennis Performance Specialist. Achievements of a rare quality and he was held in high regard in tennis coaching circles in the USA.
Oliver never forgot his roots. His love of Llantwit Major remained with him, until the end, and at his request, he now rests in the grounds of St Illtyd’s church in his home town.
In memory of Oliver , and being aware of how much he would love this project, we would like to make a significant contribution to the Tennis Club in Llantwit Major, in the form of the installation of flood lights , which would enable tennis to be played all year round and enhance the experience for members , particular the youngsters. The club pavilion will be named “The Oliver Stephens Pavillion”. We know just how proud Oliver would have been to help others get into the game of tennis, and all it has to offer, which meant so much to him.
This Gofundme account has a target of £20,000, and all, contributions will go directly to the club. Each donation , however small, will be sincerely appreciated by his family , and of course all present and future members of the club.
