I was working with Oliver as his Life Coach. Oliver was actively participating in our YMCA Program Minor Connect. He absolutely loved it.
He was our shining star.
Oliver was 16 going on 17 when he was housed in one of our Youth Apartments.
Resilient
16. Living alone. Getting HIMSELF up every day to go to school. He just kept doing it. He was such a superstar.
He told me that he wanted to make improvements but also plain out told me “Im a kid too. Sometimes I just want to be kid. I AM a kid.”
Oliver DID Graduate!!(covid style) 2020
He was such a loyal friend
He LOVED his family
Oliver always advocated for OTHER homeless youth family/friends and tried to get all of them help too.
He loved to sing and loves music.
He loved public speaking !
Oliver was the definition of resilience.
Oliver was capable of so many great things.
He was becoming involved in local politics.
He met Rep Ilhan and said she inspired him to run for office some day.
He was maturing
wise old soul
And now he's gone
My resilient youth's life was cut short by gun violence in Minneapolis as he walked to the store talking on the phone with his mom.
We need to help this family pay for the funeral!!!
My Oliver deserves it!!!!
Please help the YMCA cover the costs of his funeral so we can properly support his family and help put Oliver to rest with dignity.
